FAQ
The
Service
Q.
How do I know when
to schedule routine
maintenance?
A.
There is no need
to call for service.
If you prefer, we
can include filter
cleans or other maintenance
issue in your service
plan for a slightly
higher per month
charge.
Q.
Is there a minimum
size pool?
A.
No. Keep in mind however
that small pools can
sometimes require
more frequent service
stops due to high
relative bather load.
A few bathers in a
small pool is equivalent
to many bathers in
a big pool.
Q.
Do I have to be
home for service?
A.
No, we will typically
come when you are
at work. Arrangements
can be arranged for
access and entry prior
to the start of pool
service.
Q.
What if my pool
turns green or cloudy?
A.
Don’t
panic, this is usually
the result of a sudden
increase in chlorine
demand or the pump
and filter are not
keeping up. Please
call us and we will
do what we can to
get the water clear
again.
Q.
What if it rains?
A.
We only service pools
in covered areas when
it rains. Service
days will typically
be postponed until
the weather permits
service. Working around
the weather has never
been a serious issue
for the Pool Doctors
and we are confident
that we can work around
foul weather.
Q.
How long do we wait
to swim after the
Pool Doctor comes
to service our pool?
A.
One full hour of circulation
after adding chlorine
or acid will generally
be a safe guideline.
If this is a major
concern for you please
request that your
Pool Doctor document
the time he/she services
your pool.
Q.
How long should
I run the pump each
day?
A.
This will depend on
the pool, equipment,
and usage but the
average is about four
hours in the winter
months and six to
eight hours in the
summer months.
Q.
How often do I need
to drain and refill
the pool?
A.
Three to Five years
is the basic rule
of thumb. Heavily
used pools can justify
pool drains as often
as every year. We
will advise you when
this might be in your
pool’s
best interest.
Q.
Do I need to fill
out a form each
time I need special
service or a repair?
A.
No. From our experience,
most people would
rather not bother,
but if you prefer
we encourage you to
do so.
Q.
Is there a yearly
conditioner fee?
A.
No. This is an unfair
charge to pool service
customers. Pools only
need conditioner when
they are filled with
water if the right
chems are being used
during normal service
stops.
Q.
Do you do acid washes?
A.
Yes. In fact, we can
typically perform
an acid wash the same
week. Please call
us today for details!
If you need us to
RUSH the acid wash
for a big party coming
up please let us know.
Q.
Do you have next-day
service available?
A.
Yes. In emergencies
we can make special
stops. However, for
customers who use
our service regularly,
emergencies are rare.
Q:
My pump is running
but no water is
being circulated.
What do I do?
A:
Turn the equipment off and call your Pool Doctor. Pumps running without water can be burned up in just a few hours
